History
Bakker Design & Build is a small family owned business, established and operated by Peter and Teresa Bakker. The company was established in Strathroy, ON in 1998; however, the Bakkers’ love of home design and construction stretches back years before the company’s establishment. Peter’s father was also a homebuilder and Peter developed his passion for home building while working alongside his father. Peter further pursued his love of home design by attending Fanshawe College in London, Ontario, where he graduated with a degree in Construction Engineering in 1994. Following his graduation, Peter worked to develop his own company and four years later, Bakker Design & Build was created. We are excited about the future of Bakker Design & Build, as our sons Ryan and Kent are continuing in their father’s footsteps. The third generation of Bakker builders is on its way!

These aspects work together to provide you with peace of mind when trusting your home’s construction to us.
We thrive off of the various benefits that a small company allows. A smaller operation means that more one on one time can be spent with each client. Every home is personally designed by Peter and customized to suit the wishes of each individual client. A smaller operation also allows for more time to be spent on the job site itself where each aspect is overseen and monitored to ensure that each step fits the client’s vision. It is not uncommon for Peter to provide his personal cell number to homeowners so that he can be contacted directly, ensuring that any questions or concerns that may arise can be dealt with in an efficient, personal and professional manner.
